What I Learned In This Course

In English 174 course I learned many things. I learned how to make a research about any topic in a short period. I learned how to summarize the articles I a write way. Moreover, I learned how to create a blog and how to organize and share the data in the blog. In addition, I learned how to use the sources and organize it in MLA style. Also my English is improved a lot by doing this research and summarize the articles. This course is very important and I encourage the student to attend it punctually. Our teacher was very helpful and we had a nice time with her.

Cool Cities Summary

Cool Cities are cities which do not produce CO2. Living in these cities is the best way to fight the global warming. Masdar in Abu Dhabi is one of these cities. But it has some problems. First one is that it cannot accommodate a huge number of people. Second one is that, living in these cities will be costly because of using the solar energy. This mean poor people will not be able to live in it. Yet another problem is that, the life style is completely different than living in normal cities. It will be tight and you will not be able to do many things. Cool cities are a good solution for the global warming, but not everybody will like living like to live in it.

Nuclear Power

Global warming is a very important issue and all the people are talking about the global warming. There are many causes of the global warming. The main cause is the fossil fuel. Now I am going to mention the problem of fossil fuel, then I will explain the alternative, which is nuclear power.

Fossil fuel power is a power, which comes from burning fossil fuel like coal, natural gas or oil to produce electricity (Wikipedia). It is helpful for our life, but it has many negatives. It is very pollutant, because it produces a lot of CO2, which is the main cause of global warming (Alternative Energy Secret). Moreover, which produces sulphur dioxide, it is a gas, which creates acid rain (Alternative Energy Secret). Another problem is that, the mining to get the coal is very dangerous and it is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world (Alternative Energy Secret). Here is a graph shows the number of world carbon emission from fossil fuel burning from 1950 to 2001 (Green Learning). We can see that, the total carbon emissions have tripled, and they continue to increase rapidly.

The alternative power of the fossil fuel power is nuclear power. Nuclear power is a method to produce the energy using nuclear fission or nuclear fusion reaction (Nagel). It is very clean and it doesn’t produce harm gases like the fossil fuel. It can produce electrical power, so it is very helpful to reduce the amount of CO2 (Time for Change). Many countries are using nuclear power now and, because of its benefits.

We have to find a solution for the global warming. It is really a serious problem. I my opinion using nuclear power is a good step and all the countries should use it. But, I think the nuclear energy cannot substitute the fossil fuel. This does not mean we should ignore it. However, we should use both of them. We have to do all the best to fight the global warming. We must start now.

Cool Cities

The best way to fight the global warming is build cool cities. Cool cities are cities, which don’t produce CO2. Cool cities are very clean and healthy places to live. Masdar, in Abu Dhabi, is one of these cities. In this essay I am going to argue about some problems of these cities.

In the future the population will increase and the cool cities will not be able to accommodate all the people. It is impossible to leave the normal cities completely. Moreover if the populating is too high it mean they need a huge power of electricity in order to facilitate their life, which is not available in cool cities.

Living in the cool cities is very expensive because they are using solar energy, which is cost more than fuel power (Gregor). Austin household paying 36.50$ fuel charge a month, whereas the same house with green energy will cost 58.50$ more per month (Gregor). The poor people will not be able to live in cool cities.

The life style will be completely different in cool cities. For example the transportation, they will use car work with a new catalytic converter, which reduce harmful gases and fuel consumption (Cavanaugh).

In my opinion it can’t be to all the people live in cool cities even after 50 years. I don’t like the life style of the cool cities because I want to use my sport car with fuel engine. Living in cool cities will make us sad, because many things will be forbidden. The main problem is the cost of living; it will be twice than it now. Maybe some people will like cool cities but, I am not, so it is better to make a choice to choose where you want to live.

Carbon Footprint

Many people are consuming a lot of energy without knowing the consequences, or footprint, they will leave behind. Carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide and greenhouse, which you use in your life. I am going to explain my result and compare it with my classmates and some others.
I measured my carbon footprint by visiting two sites. The first one was longer and has more questions and I got 4.95 in it (WWF). It is very high and I were not aspect this result. The second one was shorter and easier than the first one and I got in it 1.7 (Heroes). There is a big different between the two sites. My average was around 3.325 planets.

I compared my results with my friends. There was a slightly different between us. One friend was very close to me, while the other three results were very far from mine. The lowest one was Abdulazez with 2.55 planets. The world wide average of carbon footprint per person is 2.1. UAE is the highest one in the world in the ecological footprint in 2006 (Wikipedia).

We have to work together to reduce carbon footprint. There are many ways to reduce it like using solar power, wind turbines and manage the use of the electricity in home. In addition, we can use biodiesel for our vehicles instead of the normal diesel, which produces a large amount of carbon dioxide. We must start now.

An Inconvenient Truth review

An Inconvenient Truth is one of the best movies, which argue about the global warming. The movie was created by Mr. Al Gore in 2006. In this essay I am going to mention some of the positives and negative reviews of the video.

Here are some negatives. First one is that, it is not a documentary film and it is a bad film, because he was only talking about his life. Also, he talked about his son and his sister, so he only wants to show us the indomitable courage. Moreover, he wrote one or two book, but he did not do anything on real with his position. (Gandelman)

Now I will highlight the positives. First one is that, he was talking in a scientific way and his talking was organized. Also, he presents a lot of graphs and charts which show the facts clearly. He presents the movie more than thousand times, so he knows how to work with the audience. Moreover, he used some animation films to made breaks to relax and change the atmosphere which is very important in this condition to take their attention again. In addition, he was away from the political bias in the video and he did not talk about his current administration. (Mathew)
In my opinion the video has much science. Mr. Al Gore did a great job and he really has a nice way to send the information. He mentioned a lot of information about the global warming. It can be seen that he has a good knowledge and he is a hard worker. If the movie was not good, so why all the world have seen it.

Global warming

“An Inconvenient Truth” it is a video, which was created by Mr. Al Gore in 2006. He mentioned some facts about the global warming. The global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth.

We are the cause of the global warming. CO2 and the green housesgases are the main causes of the global warming. The CO2 makes the atmospheric layer thicker. As a result of that the sun radiation will go in the atmospheric layer and will stay there. It is not a political matter, it is a moral matter. Cutting the trees is another cause. Global warming effects on our life. It will increase the temperature and this mean more storms. Moreover, it will raise the sea water level and melt the ice. There is a huge increasing of CO2 in the earth, so there is a big increase in the temperature over the years and the worst was 2005. We have to reduce burning the fossil fuels.

Global warming is a serious problem and we all have to work together to reduce the problem. We cannot insure to live in the future.

The global warming

The global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth. The main cause is the CO2, which come from the factories and cars. The CO2 makes the atmospheric layer thicker. As a result of that the sun radiation will go in the atmospheric layer and will hit the earth. Then, the radiation will not reflect and will go out of the atmospheric layer. Instead, the sun rays while the others will hit the atmospheric and reflect again to the earth. It has many effects, increasing in the average temperature and this means the ice will melt and the forests will be affected.

The global warming is a very dangerous problem and we have to think seriously about it. We have to reduce using any machine which makes a lot of CO2. We must start now.

Profile

1989 was the first year in my life. I live in Abu Dhabi with my family. In my free time I have many interesting things to do. In the summer I like to go to the sea for swimming, fishing and diving. Whereas in the winter, which is better for me, I usually go to desert for camping and playing on the dunes with ATVs. I travelled to many countries and I will never forget my tripe to Austria, because that was the best. In the future I have many goals and I hope to achieve them. First I want to get good grades and get a good job. And I hope to get married as soon as possible. In addition I want to have nice villa in Abu Dhabi and a luxury car.

In my blog I will write about the global worming and environment. I hope everybody learn from my site and my teacher like it.

Obesity

My topic was about how fight obesity and some facts about it. Obesity is a very dangerous. Body condition which causes by store a big amount of fats under the skin and the muscles. The fat weight in the two genders is different. It is more in the women. There is a huge increasing in the obesity rates and it is more in the developed countries. We have to fight it. There are many ways, but doing some exercises and rating healthy food are the best. Everyone has to take care from being fat.
